It’s 3:30 in the morning…..and I love ya :) (Source: monicaadarna) You probably procrastinated so you have a 6 page essay to do in little over an hour, correct? Thought so :) miss you btw. Everything feels like on a short leash lately… But whatever. I’ll deal with it, I always find a way to get through and get shit done. At work today, I discovered a few things about my managers and their value of education. Everyone who works at Home Depot always has a badge that shows their years of service. I see the odd 1’s and 2’s, but I also see a lot of 13’s and 15’s…and even 17’s. My department manager has a 13 year badge sewed onto his shirt and I was curious to know where in the store he started out because he looks really young to be wearing a shirt with that high of a number. When you look at him, you’d think he’s only 30 or in his early 30’s. And he is, he’s only 31. So when I asked he answered, “Oh I started out as a cashier man, when I was 18. Got this job when I was still grade 12 at Sir Charles Tupper Secondary.” I was kind of blown away because he seems like such an intelligent person, very sophisticated when he talks, but he just never went back to school after Tupper. Not to knock on anyone’s choice of profession or education, but I don’t know what it would feel like to be that old and not have any education. It just seems like, life is so unstable. What if you lose your job? Does that mean you have to start off from the bottom again in a different company? You always got to be on your toes because you can easily be replaced, all you need is a GED to get that position. They can hire anyone to replace you. It just further supported my idea that education doesn’t just give you the knowledge to do what you want to do, but it also gives you great employment stability.
Yeap. (via fuckyeahthebetterlife) …you’re awesome, everything about you. |
